Called To Protect by Lynette Eason

After Chloe St. John is dumped by her fiancé, she decides that the only male she likes is her K-9

Hi Readers,
Can't believe it's that time again! School is starting, Fall is a few weeks away (Yay!!!) and it is the perfect time to read a couple of new books! I have two "Must Reads" for you to check out and they are AMAZING!  :) The first is Called to Protect, a Romantic Suspense by Lynette Eason and I would recommend this book if you:
  • Have read Oath of Honor, the first book in the Blue Justice series or any other book by Lynette Eason.
  • Have read books by similar authors like Ronie Kendig, Irene Hannon and Dani Pettrey.
  • Like to watch Law Enforcement TV shows like Blue Bloods or NYPD Blue.
  • Want to read a fantastic new book with a ton of twist and turns.
  • Just want to check out a new book!

Here's the story.
After Detective Chloe St. John was dumped by her fiancé, she decides to give her full attention to her job and her K-9 partner, Hank. As she responds to a fifteen car pile-up, she notices that the driver of an eighteen wheeler is trying to drive away and is threatening to push the cars that are in front of him. After she secured the driver, she let Hank into the trailer to see if there were any drugs aboard; however, he found more than just drugs - he found seventeen girls hidden beneath the floor of the truck. Thankfully all the girls were alive and were to be released to their parents after a visit to the ER. As the girls were leaving, Chloe noticed that one of them had on the same shirt that her cousin, Penny had worn the day she disappeared. The girl (Beth, aka Rachel MacCallum) told Chloe that she had been given the shirt before they left that day and then described the horrible conditions that she and the other girls had been kept in. After discovering Beth's real identity (Rachel) and calling her dad to pick her up,  Rachel disappears again, this time it appears that she left on own.

Deputy US Marshall Blake MacCallum's daughter, Rachel has been kidnapped and he is told that unless he kills the judge that he is guarding, he will never see her alive again. He knows that there's no way that he can kill the judge, so he has to find a way to find Rachel before she disappears forever.  He is ecstatic when he hears that she has been found, but that joy was short-lived since she disappeared again before he reached the hospital. Since he seems to be in a race against the clock, he enlists the help of FBI Special Agent Linc St. John and his sister, Chloe to be part of a task force assembled to bring down the men who have kidnapped his daughter. But when the clues seem to be few and far between and Rachel's captors become  more demanding. Will they be able to reach Rachel in time or will Blake have to choose between saving the life of the judge or saving the life of his only daughter?

What did I think?
First, I want to let you know that this is the second book in the Blue Justice series and even though it is part of a series it could definitely be read as a stand-alone.(I would recommend reading the previous book because it is awesome and it gives a bit of back story to the characters) I wanted to let you know that although the book speaks of  human trafficking, there is nothing graphic or inappropriate about any of the situations that the characters find themselves in. I love how the story catches your attention with the prologue and does not let go until the very last page. There's a phrase on the back cover that to me, sums up the book perfectly. It says "Buckle in. This fast and furious ride will have your heart pumping from the very start" and I totally agree. I have read all of Mrs. Eason's books and this one is definitely one of my favorites. Overall I rate the book, 5 out of  5 stars! *****

Readers, if you want more information about this book, I have included the link to her website below. And while you are there, be sure to check out Mrs. Eason's other books like the ones in the Elite Guardians series (an absolute favorite of mine) or the first book in the Blue Justice series!
