Treasure at Battersea Bluffs by Sarah Norkus

Hey, Just read a Awesome new book by Sarah Norkus called Treasure of the Battersea Bluffs. It is the story of sixteen year old Emily and her boyfriend Josh,  Who were volunteered by Emily's parents to work at a rundown villa known as Battersea. While they were there, A spooked horse managed to get
into the old home and one of his hooves broke a hole in the floorboard. As Emily looks into the floorboard, She gets dizzy and passes out. Josh tried to catch Emily but he got dizzy and also passed out. When they both wake up, they discover that they are not in the year 2009 anymore , They had somehow time traveled back in time and now are in the eighteenth century. Within minutes of Emily and Josh's "arrival" into the eighteenth century, They save the life of a servant girl who was almost murdered , but in doing so became the target of Angus Blackburn, a young plantation owner who is obsessively looking for jewels that his father has hidden just before he died. With the help of a young black slave named Ezra, Emily and Josh are able to escape from Blackburn's hands, But they are not out of danger for long. Blackburn corners the kids next to a cliff and threatens to shoot them if they do not tell him the location of his jewels. Emily, Josh and Ezra have no clue what he is talking about and before they can try and come up with something. Blackburn shoots Josh and tries to shoot Ezra but Ezra jumps off the cliff after Josh. Seeing Josh get shot, Emily runs for her life and to see if she can find help for the boys. She finds help with a farmer and his son but as they are on their way to help them, Blackburn stops them and convinces them that Emily is his servant that has runaway and the farmer reluctantly hands Emily over to him. Blackburn has Emily put in his mother's old room and has the door locked so she cannot escape while he continues to look for the treasure. Emily finds an old diary belonging to Blackburn's mother and it tells EVERYTHING!, It tells about the jewels and how greed poisoned the family . Greed so bad that his mother and father hid the jewels from Blackburn, because even when he was a child, he did not care who he had to hurt to find the jewels. Meanwhile, back in the woods, Josh survives being shot ( it is a miracle from God that he was not killed ) and Ezra risks his life to save Josh. Ezra said that Josh and Miss Emily were the only people that treat him like a person and not just a piece of property and that he was willing to die to save them and to get them back to their own time. Josh and Ezra finally reach Blackburn's house where Emily is being held hostage  and attempt to rescue her but during their escape, Ezra is caught by Blackburn,  Will they be able to save Ezra in time ? Will Josh and Emily ever make it back to 2009?  Well,  you will just have to read the book to find out.

So this book is the sequel to The Secret Diary of Sarah Chamberlain, and I just have to say that the first book was good , but this book is Amazing! The main characters are the same as in the first book, but you get to know a little more about Emily's life and how she survived cancer, and you get to see how cool her boyfriend Josh is , How he sticks by her side even when it puts his life in danger.  The plot has a lot of action in it so it is hard to put the book down, but at the end of the book, you see how the two timelines come together in such a awesome and amazing way that when you finish the book you will have a smile on your face. I love that when the characters lives were saved, They thanked God for preserving their lives. I love the faith in God that Emily and Josh show as they go through this adventure. Overall I give it 5 stars *****

So I also wanted to tell you how I received this book, My mom was out shopping at Barnes and Noble to look for a b-day gift for me and Mrs Norkus was doing a meet and greet that day, My mom took at look at the books she wrote and thought that I might like this one. Agents of Babylon by Dr. David Jeremiah

Hey, I just read my first complete Non- Fiction book!
( I have started several, but never finished it)
I just finished reading Agents of Babylon by Dr. David Jeremiah. It is a book study on the Book of Daniel, which is the 27th book in the Bible.
Dr Jeremiah goes into great detail about the faith, courage and devotion of a young Jewish captive that was taken from his home at the age of 14 and forced to serve the king of Babylon. The book outlines the events that occurred during the book of Daniel, Such as when Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nago were thrown into the fiery furnace , The Writing on the Wall, King Nebuchadnezzar's Dream and the well known story of Daniel and Lions Den. But the book also goes into great detail about visions that Daniel received from God that foretold events that were in the future for Daniel but have already come to pass for us, like Alexander the Great,  Ptolemy II,  and Antiochus Epiphanes (Antiochus IV) . We are also shown the visions that God gave Daniel that foretell events that have not happened yet like the reign of the Antichrist, The characteristics of the Antichrist, and The 7 year
Tribulation.  We are shown evidence of Spiritual warfare when we read about a battle between some demons and the angels Gabriel and Michael.  We also get a glimpse into the life of Daniel and his friends through fictional stories that start each chapter. The stories are about what we will learn in the " The Scripture Behind The Stories" section that forms the second half of each chapter and at the end of each chapter it ends with  the "Daniel for Today" section that shows how we can apply the truths we just learned in our every day lives. Dr Jeremiah also includes some amazing charts in the book, like the "A" Kings of Daniel 11 or "An Unexpected Answer to Prayer" that help us picture events or timelines.  There is a lot of  information in this one book, but I can't tell you everything, I guess you will have to read it to find out what else is in the book.

I loved the book, it did take me some time to get into it since I normally only read fiction but I did enjoy the book very much. I love the fictional stories that capture your attention  and the "The Scripture behind the Stories " section that separate fact from fiction. The book was very easy to understand and had a lot of Scripture to back up his points.
Overall,  I give this book 5 stars *****

The Lost Heiress by Roseanna M. White

Hey, Just finished reading The Lost Heiress by Roseanna M White and I thought it was awesome!  It is the story of Brook Sabatini who lives in Monte Carlo, Monaco with her best friend Justin. For the past 8 years Brook did not know who she was, just who she wasn't. She was raised by Opera Singer Collete Sabatini and Prince Albert but it was not until Collette was on her death bed that she told Brook that she was not her child, that she was found in a carriage accident when she was a baby that killed her real mother. The only clue of her past was a letter that she found mixed in with love letters from Collette's past boyfriends.  Justin traveled to England and using the seal from the letter found out that her father has been looking for her for years.  Justin found out that Brook, whose real name is Elizabeth Brook Eden is the lost Baroness from Berkeley and the daughter of an Earl . Justin and Brook travel to Whitby Park, in North Yorkshire England where her father, Aunt and some cousins are waiting to meet her. Upon arriving her father instantly recognizes her because she is the exact picture of her mother and so does her Aunt, but the servants are not so accepting.  Life in Whitby Park seems to be going well except that the servants hate her and Justin cannot stay with her (because both his father and grandfather died and he has become the new Duke) until one day Brook is attacked!  A man comes behind her while she is in the stables with her horse and hits her in the shoulder. They fight and well I don't want to give you all the details and ruin the story but Brook survives injured, but alive.  The strangest thing was that the man kept screaming to give him the "Fire Eyes" and Brook did not even know what the "Fire Eyes" were.  Justin returns to Whitby park and is shocked to see Brook injured. He tries to help her solve the mystery but as the days pass by Justin is finally realizes that he loves Brook but does not know how to tell her and when he finally does tell her, Brook thinks that Justin only likes her now because she has money and a title.  They both get into a huge fight then Justin leaves again and in his absence Brook's new friend stops by and accuses her of stealing the Fire Eyes. Before her friend leaves she tells Brook to be careful or she might "end up like her mother." Brook finally finds out what the "Fire Eyes" are and she works to see who is after them.  But she can only do so much because as she was driving home one day , Someone opens the door to her car  and kidnaps her.  Will Justin return in time to save Brook  or will Brook end up suffering the same fate as her mother.  Guess you will have to read it to find out :)

I thought that the book was Awesome!!!  I love the characters ( I love Justin's nickname for Brook, he calls her Brooklet) I love the way the author wrote such a intriguing plot with a hint of romance, a lot of mystery and just a sprinkle of danger. Oh, The Author also put a few French words in the book with is cool to read. The book is 435 pages but the story is so interesting that you do not even notice the amount of pages until the book is finished and then you are like "What! It cannot be finished yet!"  Overall I give the book 5 out of 5 stars.

I cannot wait to read the next book in the series that will be available in  2016 but for now I will check out some of her other books. If you want to see more books by Mrs Rosanna M White just click on the link below

Last Chance Hero by Cathleen Armstrong

Hey Everyone, I just read Last Chance Hero by Cathleen Armstrong. It is the story of Dr Jessica MacLeod, who is opening up her own practice in Last Chance New Mexico. A few things about her? She is a geek! ( she says so herself) She used to live in California and she hates football, Which in a town like Last Chance is not a good idea because EVERYBODY in the Town loves football and that brings us to the other main character Andy Ryan. a hometown hero who was born and raised in Last Chance and made it to the NFL and has now come back to coach the High School football team. Jessica finds that life in the rural little town is not what she thought it would be, The people all look at her like she is crazy because she would rather read a book then watch a football game and anytime she tells someone that she is the new doctor, they tell her ( in the same sentence.) "Oh, we're so excited about having a new doctor in town, But I think I will drive to San Ramon because I have always gone to that Doctor"   As Jessica is having trouble adjusting to life in Last Chance, Andy is having trouble of his own. Everybody in the town expects him to be able to bring the "Glory Days" back, The time when Last Chance's High School Football time was unbeatable and whenever anyone strikes up a conversation with him it ALWAYS has to have something to do with football.  When Andy and Jessica first meet they get off on the wrong foot, Andy makes fun of the fact that Jessica does not like football, and Jessica unintentionally insults Andy by not knowing that he played as a quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Even after the rocky start, you can tell that they both are attracted to each other, They start taking morning runs together and having lunch with each other. But just when everything was going well for both of our characters , one of the football players gets hurt during practice, He is not seriously injured but he will be unable to play on the team for a couple of weeks. Jessica finds out that Gabe ( the injured player) wants to be a doctor when he graduates, She is thrilled and encourages him to focus on his studies, but Gabe thinks to focus on his studies he has to quit the football team.  Andy thinks that Jessica told Gabe to quit the team and is FURIOUS! He is made because he is the coach and she is not, She has no authority to tell him to quit the team.  Now they both are on the defensive believing that they are right  and refuse to talk with each other. Will they be able to get back together? Will Gabe really quit the sport that he loves?
Guess you will have to read the book to find out!

First I love the name of the town, Last Chance, ( her description of this small little town was enough to make anyone want to visit the town on their next vacation ) The book was filled with sweet and charming characters and she did not put too much emphasis on the romance between Andy and Jessica. The story reminded me of watching a heart warming movie on TV , The kind that you want to watch while snuggling  up in a blanket and enjoying a cup of steaming hot tea and maybe a fire blazing in the fireplace,
I really enjoyed reading this book and I hope you will too!
Overall  I give it 3 out of 5 stars.   ***

The Sea Keeper's Daughter by Lisa Wingate

Hey everyone,  I have just finished reading the Sea Keeper's Daughter by Lisa Wingate, and I loved it!  It is the story of Whitney Monroe who is desperate to save her restaurant the  Tazza  2.  She is having financial trouble and Tagg Harper, a competitor in the Italian restaurant business is trying to make her go out of business. After dealing with Mr.Harper she heads home and her neighbor/landlord meets her before she gets in the house and tells her that there is a message for her about her stepfather,  Which is strange, because she NEVER talks to her stepfather because she blames him for her mother's death ( her mom had cancer and she never knew about it, She thinks that he is the reason that her mom never told her about her illness) She finds out from one of his neighbors that he was taken to the hospital because he had fallen in the bathroom and no one knew about it until someone found him four days later. So Whitney heads over to Manteo in the Outer Banks NC to assist her stepfather and to retrieve and hopefully sell some of the items that were her inheritance from her parents that is currently in her stepfather's hands, so that  she can use the money for her restaurant. When she arrives at the Excelsior ( a old hotel that had been in her father's family for years, currently  where her stepfather lives ) she discovers her stepfather Clyde is missing. After about a day Clyde returns and is angry that Whitney is there because he believes she wants to kick him out of the Excelsior and sell it,but reluctantly he agrees to allow her to look through some items left  from earlier generations of her family that have been stored on the 2nd floor. While cleaning up and looking through the mess of items, looking for things that she can sell, Whitney comes across a letter by her grandmothers sister, Alice. The letter tells of the struggles Alice faced and a new job that gave her the opportunity of a lifetime, the chance to interview people that in the mountains and to write their story. Curiosity holds Whitney captive as she tries to find the pieces of Alice's letters so that she can learn more of her story while trouble for her restaurant is still brewing at home.  Whitney and Clyde relationship improves ( they can stay in the same building and not scream at each other, they can have a nice civilized conversation) and Whitney starts to feel a strange attraction to Mark , the store owner downstairs ( Mark owns the Rip Shack, A little surf shop on the bottom floor of the Excelsior building) But suddenly disaster strikes!
Whitney betrays (not intentionally) all of her new friends including Mark and then Whitney's restaurant burns down due to suspicious circumstances.  Will Whitney be able to restore her broken relationship with Mark and Clyde after she betrayed them?  Will she be able to save her restaurant?
Guess you have to read the book to find out!

I was very surprised by this book, This is the first book I have ever read by this author and I loved it. It was a little rough getting into the story but about half way through the book I just did not want to put it down. The author wrote the book in such a way that the character almost seems like a friend telling you what happened on her trip to the Outer Banks last year.  The plot did not have a lot of action  but it had enough drama to hold your attention until the end of the book. And suprisingly it did not have a lot of romance in it. (Sorry, lately I have read several books that are WAY too romantic) My favorite part was the end, it showed that Whitney is the ...
Sorry, I can't say what happened because then I would spoil the whole story.
I give it 4 out of 5 Stars ****

I will definitely be checking out her other books, Want to check them out too? Just click on the link below.

Brentwood's Ward by Michelle Griep

Hey Everyone , I just read a book by Michelle Griep called Brentwood's Ward. It is the story of Nicholas Brentwood, a Bow Street Runner (They were a Police officer in the early nineteenth century) who is assigned to watch Miss Emily Payne. When Nicholas was offered the job to watch "young" Miss Emily, He thought that she was a little girl and all he would have to do was sit in the study and read the "Times" , while she played around the house or was taken care of by her governess, so he was more then surprised to find out that she was in her twenty's! Nicholas was reluctant at first and only agreed to take the job because he needed money to move his dying sister Jenny to the country, hoping that the fresh air would help her to get well.

Emily longed for love, especially from her father but all she has is the undivided attention of her sweet, spoiled little pug named Alf, and a very distant father who never spends time with her. When she meets Nicolas, she finds him to be the most annoying, bossy and somehow dangerous man she's ever met. To her horror,  Nicholas decides that the best way to ensure her safety , is to her stick to her side like glue, which can be very trying for both of them since it involves hat-shopping, social calls and a ball.  At one dinner with Emily's friends, Emily and Nicholas are eating oysters, which Nicholas is finding repulsive and is really trying not to be sick , So Emily, (trying to be funny) watches and every time Nicholas would start to put one near his mouth, would say something to draw everyone's attention to him which  made it where he had to eat all of his oysters ( because everyone was watching) . Which would cause him to glare at her and her to smile a smug grin at his discomfort..This is a funny glimpse into their relationship throughout the book, On a more serious note, things take a turn for the worst as they are called to the scene of a crime where they find her "Uncle" Reggie, shot and beaten and on deaths door. Sadly, He dies just after they arrive but they are given one clue, his last words which were a warning for Emily . A few days later Nicholas discovers Emily's father is dead, He vows that he will find out who murdered him and will protect Emily at all costs because he fears that she is next .  A few days after that discovery, as Nicholas and Emily are on their way home from lunch , Their carriage is ambushed!  As the glass breaks, someone distracts Nicholas and another person snatches Emily and pulls through the carriage window. The thief puts a gag on Emily's mouth and starts to run down an a alley when Nicholas finally catches up with  him, He manages to save Emily from getting shot or being kidnapped by wounding her kidnapper's leg..
Now they are both on alert,  because they know whoever is after Emily, won't stop until they have her. As they both work together to solve the murder of her father and to ensure her safety , they sense there is a growing attraction between the two of them But as the threat to Emily gets closer and Jenny's health gets worse, Will Nicholas and Emily put their trust in God and remember that He is in control?
I guess you will have to read it to find out.

I loved this book, I love the humorous relationship between Nicholas and Emily. I love the strong faith in God that Nicholas and his sister Jenny have. The plot was good, it kept me guessing about how the book would end ( except for one part but I can't say what it is)  I will definitely have to check out other books that this author has written.
Well I hope you enjoy this book and keep on reading!

Drawing Fire by Janice Cantore

Just finished reading another awesome book Called Drawing Fire by Janice Cantore. This is the first book in the Cold Case Justice series. It is the story of Abby Hart, a detective for the Long Beach Police Department. She is working on a homicide case that seems to have run cold ( has no leads, has no clue how to solve the case) when she receives a call that another homicide just took place that is eerily similar to the one she is working on. She suspects that there could be a serial killer that is murdering elderly ladies, though she is not she why.
There is only one lead, The irritating Private Investigator Luke Murphy saw the murderer but did not catch him. When Abby finds out that the lady murdered was the governor's aunt, she is very anxious to talk to the governor, not just about his aunt but about a case that he was involved in, a case that was never solved, The murder of her parents.
Luke is also interested in the murder of Abby's parents because his uncle died that day in the fire that burned down her parents home and restaurant. 28 years prior to the story, Abby's parents were shot and kerosene poured all over both property's in an attempt to destroy everything that belonged to them, including their 6 year old daughter who was sleeping in the office of their restaurant.  Luke's uncle found the child and rescued her but later died of smoke inhalation. Abby teams up with Luke to try and get some answers about her parents but they are warned by several people that they should leave the case alone, All they both want is to find some answers to the case that has defined both of their lives, The more they uncover, the more questions they have. As they both feel a growing attraction towards each another, they shrug it off as just a common interest the Triple 7 case ( her parents murder) . After a failed murder attempt on Luke, a break in at Abby's house and Luke's daughter and parents threatened, they began to wonder if they should just let the case remain unsolved. Will Abby and Luke find peace and justice for the murders of their family members or will they let the case control how they live their lives, Should they continue to investigate the case or should they put it in God's hands and let Him take control?
Guess you will have to read the book to find out!

I thought the book was excellent. I was not really anxious to read this book, because I normally do not read law enforcement suspense stories. but now that has changed! I loved the book so much, I thought that the plot was intriguing and the characters believable. I have read books where you read something and roll your eyes while thinking, "Police would never do that!" or "What kind of FBI agent would leave the victim at the scene!" but her characters were very professional, were diligent at their work and though they wanted to investigate just the Triple 7 case, life did not stop for them, they still had responsibilities like their families  and work . You can tell that the author had a job in law enforcement before by the way she describes Abby's job at LBPD .  Overall I will definitely read the sequel. The only bad thing about the book? I have to wait until next year to read the sequel !!!
I rate the book 5 stars

Oh well, I guess I will just check out her other books until the sequel comes out . You can check what other books she has wrote by clicking on the link below:
